Fartrepreneur
Fartrepreneur
A US reality show actress made news headlines sometime back for starting a "business" of selling on-line her farts in a jar. Bizzare ,weird, quirky, obnoxious, pervert - call it what you may but it became a hit with her followers in the social media. She made a small fortune selling her encapsulated smelly product at an astounding 1000 dollars a jar. She said she got the idea ( what an idea!) after she received numerous requests from her besotted fans to sell her used bras and undies and thought, like a smart business person, to add in her product profile another "product" which was more personal, easy to produce and capable of being "customised". Calling herself "fartrepreneur", she took to gas producing diet (beans, boiled eggs, cabbage she revealed) maximizing the throughput, although her her exact formula ( possibly a trade secret) of producing a range of customised olfactory properties is not known.
That was sometime back. Recently she was in the news again when she declared closure of this product line. Her diet induced excess gas caused extreme abdominal and chest pain that made her rush to a hospital fearing a heart attaShe was advised to change her diet forthwith. The business thus literally ran out of gas but not before she had collected a tidy sum. A clear case of overstretching production capity leading to breakdown, as we engineers know too well.
It goes on to show the power and potential of on-line business to sell queerest of products if you only know how to. And also the adage that it takes all sorts, including the craziest and weirdest sellers and buyers , to make this world. While reading the story a host of memories of smelly experiences rushed through the mind and nostrils - of childhood song " Ada Pada Kaun Pada……" , crowded railway locals, buses, classrooms where everyone gave dirty accusing looks to others on being subjected to silent but powerful olfactory attacks. And the story also raised certain curiosities such as how she managed to minimize spillage while packaging her product, did the clients get refills at concessional rates, was there "buy one get one free" promotional sale and many similar ones, some of which I think are best left to ones imagination for answers.
(I am almost tempted to end this with Happy Farting!!
